Multitouch implementations: Hackers give Nexus One users what Google refuses

Friday, January 22nd, 2010 |

Just read this article over at Android and Me about multitouch being enabled on the Nexus One. This doesn’t surprise me as hackers enabled multitouch over a year ago on the G1 which does frustrate me.
Obviously the hardware is capable and Android, any version, is capable so why haven’t Google & the carriers with Android devices let the masses have a multitouch interface? Any thoughts?

Here’s the article from AndroidandMe.com and videos showing how to enable multitouch on a rooted G1 & multitouch in action on the Nexus One.

Nook E-Reader Unboxing Video

Sunday, December 13th, 2009 |

The guys over at Android and Me got a hold of a Nook and created a video of the unboxing. If you’re unaware, the Nook is an E-Reader similar to Amazon’s Kindle but it is running Android for the OS. I was personally impressed by the size of the device as well as the clarity of the screen. However, as mentioned in the video, it seemed pretty sluggish at first.

So, any thoughts or comments? Will the Nook be in one of your family members’ stockings this Christmas? Let us know!

Phone Arena’s In Depth Review of the Motorola Droid

Although I’m no fan of Big Red AKA Verizon Wireless, I am impressed that they released not only a pretty cool Android phone, they didn’t cripple the WiFi on it like other smartphones they have released. PhoneArena.com has released the most in depth video review of this handset that I’ve seen so far. Hit the jump for more!

Nokia N900 is now shipping!

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009 |

via Endgadgetmobile.com
Nokia’s Maemo-based future has begun: the N900 is shipping. According to Nokia CEO, Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo, the eagerly awaited handset is now en route to at least some pre-order customers. We’ll soon see if this new generation of Nokia smartphones will be enough to generate the type of mass-market / high-margin appeal that Nokia needs at the top end of its product portfolio or if it’s just a tentative first step on a potentially wobbly new platform.

Update: Nokia’s official blog says to expect the Maemo 5 device to land in “Europe, the Middle-East, Russia and North America” shortly. However, it won’t be compatible with the new 3G SIM cards from 3 in the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Denmark and Austria until a software update hits sometime later this year.

[Thanks, Juhana J.]
