The guys at PhoneScoop.com have got a hold of the new HTC myTouch Fender Edition and have created a cool video review of the device. Here is the video of Eric Clapton’s baby followed by the full technical specs. So what do you guys think? Is this device worth getting over the regular myTouch? Will you be purchasing it? Leave a comment and let us know!
T-Mobile will announce a partnership with media syncing app developer doubleTwist, according to TechCrunch. The app will be pre-installed on some of its Android phones, including the new myTouch 3G Fender Limited Edition handset. This is big news for the Android community since no Android phones come with syncing software akin to iTunes. As of now, users mount SDs card to their computers and drag and drop the files onto phones. (more…)
Just saw this tidbit over at TmoNews.com regarding the Nexus One 3G issue. You remember that one? Apparently the Nexus One has a hard time deciding whether it wants to be on T-Mobile’s 3G network or on EDGE and constantly swaps back and forth between the two. It is reported that devices display this behavior in areas where there should be full 3G coverage.
Well, a Google employee posted on Google Support Forums that the issue was due to ‘being on the edge or outside of 3G coverage, which a product fix cannot address.’
Now the employee did say this ‘may be due to’ so I’m not necessarily agreeing with TmoNews that this employee is blaming T-mobile’s coverage, (Article here) but it does seem weird that they mention how ’other T-Mobile handsets (such as the G1) work perfectly fine in the same locations.’
I don’t find this entirely true in my experience. Where I reside, we’re well within T-Mobile’s 3G coverage and while my G1 was functioning, I experienced this issue in numerous areas but especially inside my home. On my front porch, I would have solid 3G. Once inside, I could literally watch it go from 3G to EDGE every few seconds.
I just chalked it up as the network not liking my walls but didn’t blame it on T-Mobile’s 3G service as I have nothing but good things to say about it.
The Google Employee did say there will be an update via OTA soon that will help the issue but until then, what has been your experience? Anyone with a G1 or a Nexus One have the same issue within Magenta’s 3G borders?
Although this was announced a few days ago, I thought I’d post it here anyway. T-Mobile USA announced that any calls to & from Haiti will be free of charge. This is a great gesture by this carrier as communication is one of the most important things in a disaster of this magnitude and users have enough to worry about let alone their wireless bill.
T-Mobile among other carriers did this during Katrina as well and I personally love it when a company provides real help like this rather than just throwing money at the Red Cross and then bragging about it.
Although I most people are aware of this, if you’d like to donate, text the word ‘HAITI’ to 90999 and a $10 donation will appear on your phone bill.
I just read at BoyGeniusReport.com that Verizon Wireless is also providing free calls to and from Haiti and making the credit retroactive to the day of the quake.
Our prayers & thoughts go out to those in Haiti as well as their families and friends.
The guys at Android and Me posted this video of the T-Mobile Pulse that is available in the UK. Made by Huawei, it most likely won’t ever make it State-Side other than purchasing one from Ebay or elsewhere. But, I thought it was worth a mention as the customized UI demonstrated in the video shows more of the flexibility that Android provides and I also think it’s a cool idea. Basically unlimited desktops would be nice as well as very…Linux-esque…. So long as the hardware can handle the amount of desktops I want. LOL
What improvements would you make to any of the Android home UI’s if you could?
The wireless blogs & the ‘Twitter-verse’ have been a buzz all weekend with rumors, pictures and videos of the so called ‘Google Phone.’
Androidguys.com have compiled this handy list of updates & information and I have also posted an NBC video below about this new handset. More news to follow as we get it so stay tuned…
The Story so Far… You know, 20/20 and all that.
Around the middle of October a writer for TheStreet.com was the first to really get the Google Phone rumors rolling again. He claimed that Google would be selling a handsetdirectly, bypassing carriers.
Some believe this is the Google Phone news we’ve been waiting for. Other think it’s just the same thing as last year – nothing more than a gift to employees
Nothing has been officially announced. The closest we have so far is a post from the Google Mobile Blog that says their employees are dogfooding a mobile lab. Said handsets are unlocked and feature new mobile features and capabilities.
The Wall Street Journal publishes an article that pretty much confirms the rumors. The code name ‘Nexus One” is born.
A few pictures have identified the handset as “Phone 88″. Perhaps each phone has a unique model/serial written into it to identify leaks. Looking back at the first Dragon/Passion images, we were told that the image blacked out parts of the screen because “…it has a number that I’m told is used to determine who this phone was loaned to.“ Coincidence? Maybe.
The phone looks exactly like the HTC Dragon/Passion except for the missing HTC branding. Specs include a Snapdragon 1GHz chip, 3.7-inch AMOLED display, and a 5 megapixel camera.
Gizmodo’s source from a few weeks back said that we have yet to see the ‘real’ Android. Based on collected descriptions, the ‘real’ Android might be one designed by Google which has every screen, button, and animated background specifically designed.
UPDATE: According to a quick start that comes with the handsets, there is mention of a page for questions at google.com/phone/support. The site is inactive at this time.
via Phone Scoop Today T-Mobile confirmed that it is phasing out its myFaves set of calling plans. The company said in an email to Phone Scoop, “T-Mobile’s new Even More plans, which feature options for unlimited calling, text and data service, have taken the place of myFaves unlimited calling feature. T-Mobile continues to offer the myFaves home screen, at no additional charge, across our broad portfolio of phones as a way for customers to easily connect with their Fave Five through voice, text and e-mail. Also, customers currently subscribing to the myFaves unlimited calling feature can choose to continue to benefit from that plan.” Alltel was first to offer such a calling plan, and called it MyCircle. T-Mobile began offering myFaves in 2006. MyCircle and myFaves were eventually followed by similar offerings from both AT&T (A-List) and Verizon Wireless (re-packaged MyCircle after Alltel acquisition). from T-Mobile more info at Fierce Wireless »
